Operational Team

reinhardReinhard Schäler, President and Founder

Reinhard Schäler is founder and director of the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) at the University of Limerick (UL) and the founder and president of The Rosetta Foundation.

He has been involved in the localisation industry since 1987. He is the founder and editor of Localisation Focus – The International Journal of Localisation, and has been an editor and editorial board member of localisation-related publications, such as JOSTRANS and Multilingual. He is a founder and CEO of The Institute of Localisation Professionals (TILP), a member of the OASIS Technical Committee on the XML-based Localisation Interchange File Format (XLIFF), and has coordinated a localisation stream for the Unicode Conferences. He is the Localisation Area Leader of the Centre for Next Generation Localisation (CNGL). He believes that lack of access to knowledge and information, lack of localisation, can kill, and would like to make “Localisation for all” a reality.

paPaulina Abzieher, Community Coordinator

Paulina is passionate about languages, social justice and working with volunteers from all walks of life. She holds a BA in Translation and an MA in Literary Translation and has previously worked as a language teacher and translator of literary and scientific texts. In March 2012, Paulina stumbled into her dream job as Community Coordinator with The Rosetta Foundation. She can’t think of anything she’d rather do, so the idea of TGIF kind of bothers her. Thank God it’s Monday!

Javier Merchán, Social Media and PRjavi

Javier is in charge of our social network presence (Facebook  Twitter  Google + LinkedIn). If you see any mistakes, typos, or boring content on them, he is the one you should blame.

Javier is an experienced Community Manager and loves it. He’s also been working for more than 17 years in Communications, always at an international level. Javier has worked for IT companies, sporting events (Paralympic Games), non-profits, and opera events. Fortunately, he did not sing. He’s also working on improving the website, newsletter and lots more, so… stay tuned!

As you may have guessed by the name, Javier is from Spain. (By the way,  thanks Javier Bardem! Because of you, Javier doesn’t have to spell his name every time he goes to Starbucks). He loves reading (in English) and writing (in Spanish) and his dream is to write the best film script ever. Meanwhile, he is still trying to write one (at least one). He also likes movies, travelling and sports… actually, let’s say football.
