Localization World Berlin: June 6-10, 2010 – A Success!
The Rosetta Foundation Operational Team had a great opportunity to come together this past June for the Localization World Conference in Berlin. Between the sessions we spoke with many localization professionals about the mission of The Rosetta Foundation and possibilities to support our organization.
Our LocWorld Berlin 2010 Session took place on June 10th. Reinhard Schäler led the session, discussing the need for an affordable translation service in the global non-profit sector. Stefanie Scheeder, our Operations Manager, updated our audience on the current projects of The Rosetta Foundation.

The Rosetta Foundation’s first fundraising initiative was released this year at LocWorld Berlin in the form of the Partnership Pack. It was developed as a way for The Rosetta Foundation to be able to give thanks to those individuals, foundations and companies that support it.

A big "Thank you" to Ulrich Henes and Donna Parrish of Localization World for their support and for allowing us to address delegates during the plenary opening session!
Some members of The Rosetta Foundation, including Katherine Moreno Jones, our newest project management intern, had the chance to meet up again the week of June 21st for a two day training session in the use of our translation management system, GlobalSight, delivered by Vincent Swan of WeLocalize.
While in Dublin, The Rosetta Foundation met with Mary Davis, the Managing Director of Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia, for the Official Launch of our partnership. We have now completed the first Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia project: over just three weeks, around 30 volunteer translators translated material into seven languages; a total of 175,000 words! We are looking forward to many more successful projects over the course of our partnership!

A special thanks to all of our volunteer translators for their hard work on the first Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia project. Your work helped make this project a huge success!

Internet Governance Forum, Vilnius: September 14-17, 2010
Join The Rosetta Foundation at the United Nation's fifth annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Vilnius, Lithuania, September 14-17, 2010. At this conference we hope to continue speading the word about The Rosetta Foundation and join together with IGF to make the internet accessible to everyone in their own language.
Founded last year at IGF in Egypt, the Dynamic Coalition for a Global Localization Platform, Localization4All, will hold a session at this year's IGF on Thursday 16 September at 11:30 am. Localization4All works to coordinate the development of communities and the deployment of technologies that will enable localization for all.
Localization4All will continue to encourage collaboration among all stakeholders in order to add a social, cultural, political and developmental dimension to mainstream commercial localization efforts with the aim to move localization from a mono-dimensional to a multi-dimensional activity; encouraging and supporting localization activities whose rationale is not short-term profit, but instead, long term societal impact.
Visit the Dynamic Coalition for a Global Localization Platform on the web to learn about Localization4All and the IGF's website to read more about the session.
